Frequently asked questions
What is the recommended week of pregnancy to start using the app?
We recommend using the app after week 24, since the baby’s heart will start to get mature enough to produce audible beats.
Why doesn’t the app show heart rate/BPM?
Even though the app algorithm uses advanced signal processing techniques, any assessment of heart rate/BPM (beats per minute) would be delving into diagnostics, which is strongly discouraged by the developers. The app is intended to be used solely to enable a bonding experience.
Is everything okay with your baby if you can’t find the heartbeat?
Snuggly is NOT a replacement for a medical practitioner or any of the medical examinations utilised during pregnancy. If you feel any discomfort during pregnancy, make sure to contact your physician as soon as possible.
Should you really switch to Airplane Mode every time?
Airplane Mode is highly recommended. Even though the microphone does not emit any harmful energy, it is best to reduce phone signal emissions when you use it near the baby.
What are the best locations to hear your baby’s heartbeat?
The baby’s heartbeat can usually be heard from below the belly button. As the heart is very small and is not very loud, changing the location by just a couple of inches can make a big impact.
What can you do if you have issues hearing the baby’s heartbeat?
Make sure to correctly place the microphone (found just to the left of the charging port) and tilt the phone slightly so that the loudspeaker (located to the right of the charging port) is not pressed into the skin.
Turn the volume up and focus on deep rhythmic sounds. If you can’t find the heartbeat, lift the phone from the skin, move to a different location, and gently press back while keeping it tilted to the left.
